Traditionally, malas are used in prayer and meditative practices as a way to remain focused or bring you back into focus when your mind wanders off. Wearing your mala or hanging it where you can see it every day will also help remind you of your intentions.
Working with a Mala helps you to replace negative thought patterns by way of setting intentions and/or repeating mantras with each bead. Essentially creating new neuropathways in your brain to change your default thought process.
I wear my mala almost daily, it is my physical reminder of what I am calling into my life, and whenever I feel lost or stressed I will run my fingers over it and I am reminded of my intentions.
